We are crazy about flowers. Nothing else can convey such a wide variety of emotions. You can apologize, express love, sympathy and even anger with flowers. We will be taking a look at the different cultural interpretations of flowers later on. But we are really here to give you the information you need to help you choose the perfect floral arrangement for a wedding.
Let's first take a look at the bouquet. Interesting fact: bouquets were originally carried down the aisle to ward off evil spirits. This superstition has faded away over time and now the bouquet is used purely for decoration and symbolism. A great idea here it to honor your family by using the same wedding flowers that maybe your grandmother used to walk down the aisle many years ago. This can be a very touching statement.
Color coordination is of course vital at a wedding. But what comes first: the dress or the flowers? There is no set rule here. A good tip is to get a color chart from a paint store. Use this chart to see which colors combinations you like the look of and design your wedding around these colors. Look at some pictures of flowers and see which ones are in your desired color and if you like the look of them as well: you have a plan.
Next concern: budget. It is always wise to ask for a quote from different flower delivery companies once you know what type of arrangement you are looking for. A flower delivery company will be able to tell you which flowers are going to be in season around the time of your wedding as well. Seasonal flowers are considerably less expensive that imported out of season arrangements. When it comes to arrangement and budget, it is commonly thought that less is more. A few well-placed subtle collections can do much more for the aesthetic of your wedding than rows and rows of bouquets.
There are questions you can ask your florist that are going to help you decide if they are the right people to work on your wedding. You should ask to see pictures of flowers they have designed for weddings before. Always go to visit the florist in person, this will give you a better idea of how many staff they have and whether they can handle a job as large or as intricate as yours.
They should of course suggest arrangements of wedding flowers to you. Listen to their suggestions. They may suggest something that you have overlooked in your initial research. Ask about rental items as well, if you can rent vases, arches and potted plants, this is going to drive down the overall cost of your big day. We have much more advice and information on the perfect floral arrangements for weddings. We want to do everything we can to make your big day all the more special.
